Weather Vocabulary: Common Weather Conditions

Master essential weather vocabulary in English by learning to describe sunny, rainy, and cloudy conditions.

Understanding weather vocabulary is essential for daily conversations and planning. In this video, we introduce 3 common weather conditions in English.

  • Sunny. When the weather is sunny, the sun is shining brightly, and there are few or no clouds in the sky. For example, "Today is a sunny day, perfect for a picnic". 
  • Rainy. Rainy weather occurs when there is rainfall. It can vary from light showers to heavy downpours. An example sentence is, "It's a rainy day, so don't forget your umbrella". 
  • Cloudy. When the sky is filled with clouds but there's no precipitation, it is described as cloudy. For instance, "The weather is cloudy, but it might clear up later". 

By learning these weather vocabulary, you can better understand weather forecasts and communicate about the weather more effectively. These basic weather conditions are a great starting point for expanding your vocabulary related to everyday topics.
