Types of Lines: A Simple Guide
Lines are essential in both geometry and everyday communication. In this lesson, you’ll learn about different types of lines in English and how to recognize them in various contexts.
First, we have horizontal lines, which run from left to right, like the horizon. Next are vertical lines, which go up and down, like a flagpole. Diagonal lines run at a slant, cutting across in an angled way. You'll also see dotted lines, which are broken lines made up of dots, and dashed lines, which are similar but use dashes instead of dots.
For something more fluid, wavy lines curve back and forth smoothly. In geometry, you'll come across parallel lines, which never meet no matter how far they stretch, and perpendicular lines, which intersect at a right angle.
Understanding these different types of lines helps in both visualizing geometric shapes and enhancing your English vocabulary.
