Past Simple vs. Present Perfect: Learn the Difference
Understanding the difference between past simple and present perfect can be tricky, but there’s an easy way to get it right.
• Present perfect (have/has + past participle) is used when the time is not specific or when talking about experiences. Example: I have eaten lunch.
• Past simple (verb in past form) is used when referring to a specific time in the past. Example: I ate lunch at 12.
Here’s a quick trick: If you mention a specific time (yesterday, two hours ago, last week), use past simple. If there’s no specific time, use present perfect.
Now, try this one: I ___ breakfast two hours ago. Watch the video and test your knowledge!
