Common Facial Expressions: Learn and Understand Them
Master the meanings of common facial expressions to enhance your communication skills.
In this video, we will explore 6 common facial expressions: frown, sniff, smile, shake (head), gasp, and tilt.
- Frown. A frown typically indicates displeasure, confusion, or concentration. It involves pulling the eyebrows down and together. Example: "He frowned when he didn't understand the question".
- Sniff. Sniffing can show curiosity, suspicion, or even emotion like sadness. It involves inhaling quickly through the nose. Example: "She sniffed when she sensed something strange".
- Smile. A smile conveys happiness, friendliness, or approval. It involves lifting the corners of the mouth. Example: "She smiled warmly at her friend".
- Shake (head). Shaking your head usually indicates disagreement or disapproval. It involves moving the head from side to side. Example: "He shook his head in disagreement".
- Gasp. A gasp often shows surprise, shock, or fear. It involves taking a sudden, sharp breath. Example: "She gasped when she heard the news".
- Tilt. Tilting the head can indicate curiosity, confusion, or attentiveness. It involves leaning the head to one side. Example: "He tilted his head, trying to understand the instructions".
