Bear vs. Beer Pronunciation
Do you know the difference between bear and beer in English? These two words sound similar but mean very different things—and getting them mixed up can lead to some funny (or embarrassing) situations!
In this short video, Luke tells a story about walking in the forest and says he saw a beer! His friend Daniel quickly corrects him—Did you mean a bear? This friendly, real-life exchange helps highlight the pronunciation differences:
• Bear – /ber/ – A wild animal, like a big furry creature in the forest.
• Beer – /bɪr/ – A cold drink, usually alcoholic.
You’ll hear both words clearly, with visual and gesture clues to help you remember. Repeat along with the characters to improve your pronunciation.
This video is great for English learners who struggle with vowel sounds. It also builds your confidence when telling stories or asking for drinks.
Watch the clip, repeat after Daniel, and try saying both words out loud. Did you see a bear… or drink a beer?
